Do Not Waste Thousands with Predatory Tree Services

It’s time to call out predatory tree services. Do not waste thousands of dollars/kill trees with subpar tree services!

Telltale signs of predatory tree treatment companies:

1. No treatment price warranty for the life of the treatment. Fly by night companies will use cheaper products and inferior application methods to save money and move quickly. They have no financial stake in your tree’s future.

2. Urging the necessity of treatments on most/all of your trees…or they will surely perish.

3. Never discussing whether certain heavily damaged trees are removal candidates…only treatments are recommended. Dealing in absolutes noting that treatments are the only option never removals or alternatives to treatment.

4. No insurance/history of quality work.

Telltale signs of predatory tree removal companies:

1. No insurance/history of quality work.

2. Use alarming terminology such as “widow makers” to justify removal/pruning on a large proportion or even all of your trees.

3. Dealing in absolutes…the solution for a huge number of your trees is removal rather than potential alternatives and/or treatment.

It is wise to have multiple companies look at your property and assess your trees without knowledge of the other companies assessment. Opinions will likely vary but…it is up to you to decide which solutions seem the most sound. Sometimes multiple solutions are valid…predatory “solutions” will be more easy to spot when contrasted with a different opinion rooted in superior knowledge/better intentions.

Unfortunately, I encountered a quote from an arborist committing malpractice in North Oaks today. This arborist recommended highly aggressive limb shaving for over 20 mature trees reduce weight towards the clients house. This quote would have been nearly 20K to actually damage many of these trees…which would likely increase risk as many slowly died. Highly profitable for this arborist…and almost any professional would agree this work would have been a disastrous disservice to the customer.

Luckily, Budget Tree Service and I helped convince the client to dramatically reduce the quote proposals which contributed to our superior quote….which was a fraction of the price and properly addressed several actual tree structure concerns such as a bark inclusion and a dying tree near the home.

Always get a second opinion about your tree work!
